Swami Saranam!!!
In the year 1970, Ayyappa devotees of Ahmedabad arranged an Ayyappa pooja. During this Pooja, they discussed and decided to have a place to offer prayer to God Ayyappa. For this purpose they decided to come under an umbrella of an all India organisation called Akhila Bharatha Ayyappa Seva Sangham (ABASS) and registered as member on 17/5/1973. Subsequently this was registered as a Religious Charitable Trust under Bombay Charitable Trust Act 1950 on 21.6.80 as a Religious Trust, with the main objects to assist sabarmala pilgrims, feeding the poor, extending affordable education, medical assistane etc. apart from constructing a temple dedicated to God Ayyappa.
In this context they approached a local devotte, late Mr. G. S. Patel and he was kind enough to provide a small piece of land in 1978 at a token price, where our temple is existing.
The foundation stone for the temple was laid on 24th September 1980 by His Holiness Kanchi Kamakoti Peethadheeshwar Jagadguru Sankaracharya Shri Jayendra Saraswati Swamiji. Daily poojas commenced from 17th November 1983. The temple structure was beautifully brought to life under the expert guidance of the renowned Kerala temple architect, Late Kanippayyur Parameswaran (Unny) Namboodiripad.
Daily pooja to God Ayyappa started on 17.11.1983 in a temporary structure. (Late Shri K. K. Kumaran had given the entire cost for this)
The Pranapratishta (consecration) of the presiding deity Lord Shri Ayyappa, along with Lord Shri Ganapathi, Goddess Ambaji, and Nagaraja, was conducted on 23rd January 1985 (10th Makaram 1160 – Avittam Star) by Thanthri Brahmashree Kunnathur Padinjaredath Manakkal Vishnu Bhattatiripad from Thrissur, Cherpu, Kerala. (a highly respected, traditional Namboothiri Brahmin ancestral Illam/Mana ). Many devotees witnessed a divine sign on this auspicious occasion—a white-headed eagle circled above the temple, echoing the sacred tradition of Sabarimala during Makaravilakku.
Subsequently, shrines were dedicated:
To Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu on 14th July 1988 (30th Mithunam 1163 – Punartham Star),
To Lord Kartikeya and Lord Anjaneya on 7th February 1989 (25th Makaram 1164 – Avittam Star), and to the Navagrahas on 4th June 1998 (21st Edavam 1173 – Atham Star).
In alignment with the Sangham's commitment to social welfare, particularly education, an Education Fund was initiated in 1985. Fulfilling this vision, Tatwamasi Vidyalaya was established in 2008 on our own land along Ognaj-Sola Road, offering a serene and environmentally conscious setting for affordable and quality education.
